How to find an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME)

To become a Private Pilot, you will need to obtain a 3rd class medical certificate from an AME (Aviation Medical Examiner). These doctors are ones that specialize in the medical certification process for pilots.
To locate an AME in your area, you can search for one on the FAA website here.
There are three medical classes, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. You will need a 3rd Class to exercise privileges of a Private Pilot certificate as the other two are for Commercial pilots flying operations that require a higher class certificate.
